Crossing the Finish Line relies entirely on community support for its daily operation and fulfilling its mission. This support takes many forms, including:
- Donating financially to our Annual Appeal and/or our Capital Fund to maintain CFL's home in Florida.
- Families and work colleagues joining together to adopt a family.
- Attending our special events as well as donating and purchasing items in our auctions.
- Volunteering to help with our special events, office administration, and Port Support Program.
- Individual and corporate partners lending their expertise, talent, and time to ensure our operation runs efficiently and effectively.
- Owners of second homes donating a week for a Sailor excursion.
Whatever form your support takes, please know that we are grateful for your commitment to our mission, and we value your stewardship!
CFL's Endowment Fund
In honor of those that have gone before us, CFL is proud to have initiated an endowment fund - a fund that will forever memorialize these special people and continue their path of kindness shown to others. The fund was propelled by the death of Michael Costello, a young vibrant man who lost his life in the tragic events of September 11th. Michael "Stitch" as his friends called him, witnessed the birth of Crossing the Finish Line in 2000. He was an avid supporter for too short a time before his own journey ended.
We are currently selling honorarium and memoriam cards to sustain our endowment fund. The cards were designed and printed by Ross Fine, whose family received a respite from CFL. Ross was inspired to provide us with this program through his Bar Mitzvah community service project - the respite helped his family cope with his mother's cancer diagnosis and he wants to ensure that CFL can continue to provide services to others.
Cards cost $10 each or $40 for 5 and are easily transferable - they state that a donation was made to CFL, and the purchaser fills in the rest of the information, making the process easy and customizable. They can be used to celebrate the memory of a loved one who battled cancer or can be used to honor someone who is currently struggling with a diagnosis. Cards also make unique and thoughtful birthday or anniversary gifts.

If you're looking for an easy way to share your support of CFL with friends and family through your own website, blog or myspace page, a CFL widget is for you! Fundraising widgets raise awareness for causes and also allow anyone to donate to CFL. CFL's Digital Identity - New Ways to Help Our Sailors!
Become a Wired Fundraiser (or wired supporter) - In tough economic times, it's important to ensure proper funding for our respite excursions. It's easier than ever for our community members to become fundraisers on CFL's behalf with the use of fund raising widgets. Help Spread Awareness for CFL - Join us on Myspace or become a fan of our page on Facebook. According to the American Cancer Society, more than 1.4 million new cancer cases will be diagnosed in 2008 in the United States. This startling fact makes the mission of CFL all the more important.
Stay involved in the busy world of CFL - follow us on Twitter! The New York Times calls Twitter "one of the fastest-growing phenomena on the Internet." Search for us and keep updated on our program statistics, event registrations and other fun happenings in the office!
